"Perennial: Adam Janes"

In his solo art show, “Perennial”, Adam Janes uses pencil, watercolor crayon and paint on smooth surfaces and found
objects. Janes, simplifies his drawings making his art a haiku statement filling richness within the negative space.
Umbilical cords disguised as roots; circular faces resembling swollen
maternal bellies; perspective-defined empty boxes; and, the use of cliché
doodles recreated by a poet; the work speaks of a mans sensitivity to
relationship with others as it defines the Self by those relationships.
Adam Janes is a graduate of the Pasadena Art Center. He has been asked to
exhibit in group shows in San Francisco at Culture Cache and in LA as a
guest artist at Cartoon Network.
Zone 9: Art, which is located at 453 S. Spring Street on the 3rd Floor of
the Music Building, has exclusive art work by Adam Janes available in the
downtown flatfile gallery. Adam Janes will be presented as the Featured
Artist, exhibiting additional work in a solo show that will run April 5 - 30, 2003. The public can meet the artist at a public gathering April 26,
8-11PM.
