"Flowers Interpret Art"
2003-04-22 until 2003-04-23
University of Virginia Art Museum
Charlottesville, VA, USA

In celebration of Garden Week in Virginia, the University of Virginia Art Museum will hold its annual Flowers Interpret Art exhibit on Tuesday, April 22, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For years, the Flowers Interpret Art event was organized by Anne May Bowen, a member of the Museum’s Volunteer Board. Through her enthusiasm and efforts, the event became an extremely popular program for participants and visitors.

Individuals of all ages, floral designers, groups and organizations are invited to create still-life floral or other creative arrangements in response to works of art on view in the museum. In the past, garden clubs, sororities, school classes and individuals have submitted entries.

This year’s participants include a U.Va. student from the Netherlands, Joanne van der Woude, and three generations in one family —Janice Bowen, her daughter Mary Lewis Meador and granddaughter, 10-year-old Reid Meador. They have each selected different art works as inspiration for their entries, said volunteer board member Virginia Paul, the organizer of this year’s event. Bowen said, My granddaughter and I do a lot of art projects together. It seemed like a good thing to do.
