"Small Talents: Photography Team, Davis and Davis"
2003-05-03 until 2003-05-31
Zone 9 Art
Los Angeles, CA, USA United States of America

Husband and Wife photography team, Davis and Davis, find toys while on walks in their Los Angeles neighborhood.  The toys, having been thoughtlessly forgotten on the sub-urban sidewalks, which surround the artists’ studio/home, lie waiting for the retrieval of the couple from abandonment.

Artists, Scott Davis and Denise Davis find not only toys, but also relationships and roles for their found objects.

The commedia dell’art, which become photos, are not “Hallmark” moments.  The photography team use these childish things to create statements about the adult conditions and trauma rooted in innocence.

Davis and Davis have shown throughout California and in New York.  They have been reviewed in LA Times, Glue Magazine, San Francisco Chronicle, San Francisco Bay Guardian, Bold Magazine, Los Angeles Downtown News, and ArtWeek.

Zone 9: Art, which is located at 417 S. Wall Street, #407, has selected work available in the downtown flatfile gallery.  Davis and Davis will be presented as the Featured Artists, exhibiting their one-of-a-kind 4” x 5” tungsten Polaroid “test shots” of new work entitled, “Small Talents” in a solo show that will run May 3 - 31, 2003.  The public can meet the artists at a public gathering May 17th, 8-11PM.
