Launching its nomadic program, dot galerie is pleased to present a site-specific installation of the new work of Fabiana de Barros Les Nouvelles in an exclusive location in Geneva, Switzerland. Les Nouvelles (the news) are painted magazines laid out on the floor. Each magazine is a piece of news telling the singular story, the anecdote or the intimate chronicle of obliterated persons of whom only the silhouette floating amidst a field of vivid color is revealed to us.
The site-specific installation will propose a questioning on the space and on the way to perceive the work itself. It will play with reality and its illusion, through layers, cuts, flatness and matter.
This installation of painted human figures will find an echo in a series of photographs that the artist produced in collaboration with the film-maker and photographer Michel Favre after the public–art performances/installations fiteiro cultural* and peripteron de cultur* by Fabiana de Barros. In three - almost cinematographic – series, the social and political implications of this ephemeral and itinerant piece are being diverted, transcended, solidified through a mise-en-abime and a reclaim that pushes the limits of the pictorial and the photographic.
The exhibition is open from May 9th to june 1st, Wednesday to Friday from 2 to 7 pm and Saturday from noon to 5 pm.

On Thursday May 23rd at 11 am, the presentation of the kiosques à culture*, a project by Fabiana de Barros and Mireille Mercanton-Wagnières, will take place in the event of its first Swiss episode this summer in Sion, with the Musées Cantonaux du Valais.
The presentation will be followed by a discussion with the artists and associations invited to participate to the project.
