"Howard Eisman: A Muse of Fire"
2003-05-16 until 2003-06-22
Figureworks
Williamsburg, NY, USA United States of America

Figureworks is pleased to present the work of enamaller Howard Eisman. Mr. Eisman has been working with fused glass on metal (steel and copper) for many years and has recently completed a new series of work for his first solo show with Figureworks. These pieces are quite large by enamaling standards (over 24" x 36") and have a physical depth created by hammering the copper which create deep pockets that pool with intensified color. The translucency is exquisite and is frequently even more accentuated by his opaque use of silver and gold.

He has many figurative themes in this exhibition. He drew upon biblical references (as above), jazz musicians, and circus performers to name a few. He then explored fanciful gardens or related color patterns for which to place the figures.

He says of his work, "My goal is to create enamel art which conveys the idea that life can be a colorful, exuberant adventure".
