The 43rd Open Juried Exhibition, held at Windward Community College's Gallery 'Iolani at the
will have artworks to include: Oils, acrylics, watercolor, bones, mixed media, photo, serigraph, pencil, pen & ink, hand painted silk, graphite, fiber, water media monotype, pastel, terracotta, watercolor batik, needlepoint, stoneware, wood, fiber, ceramics, bronze, and UltraArt (fluorescent acrylics/oils).
Awards will be presented in two categories: two-dimensional and three-dimensional artworks, with monetary awards totalling $1,400.00. Plus, numerous special awards.
The Exhibition will be held at the new Gallery `Iolani, within the Hale Palanakila Windward Arts Center, at the Windward Community College
Juror’s Brief Bio Background: James (Jay) Jensen is Associate Director/Chief Curator of The Contemporary Museum, Honolulu, where he has worked for the last 12 years, overseeing the museum’s exhibitions and collections programs. Prior to The Contemporary Museum, Mr. Jensen worked at the Honolulu Academy of Arts for 15 years, and the last 9 years as Curator of Western Art.
WAG: The Windward Artists Guild was organized in 1960 by a small group of Windward artists for the purpose of furthering the creation of visual arts. The primary activities for stimulating awareness and interest in the arts are the sponsoring of exhibitions and the presentation of demonstrations and workshops. The Guild is a non-profit, volunteer organization open to all who are interested in the arts.
WAG is the proud sponsor of an annual art scholarship for a student at Windward Community College.
