The Auckland Art Gallery presents an exhibition entitled "Chic Colonials: Ataahua" from August 16, 2003 through May 2, 2004. This exhibition reflects on cultural and historical ideas from the past through to the present. Historical beauty and fashion, adornment items, colonial and Maori clothing are all represented in the paintings, prints and photographs on display.
Auckland Art Gallery has the most extensive collection of national and international art in New Zealand. A public art gallery located within two buildings, the main gallery and the new gallery, it exhibits work from its collection along with a programme of national and international touring exhibitions.
