"Paintings by Maria Morganti"
2003-11-21 until 2003-12-20
Florence Lynch Gallery
New York, NY,
USA United States of America
For this exhibition Maria Morganti presents a series of paintings dating from 1999
to 2003. The works are presented in dialogue. Wherein the dialogue between
the works, their surface, structural, formal, and scale, interplay as well
on their four-year span. They are presented in alignment, shown as diptychs
and triptychs, still, they maintaining their individuality while creating a
larger painting from the singulars.
While not apparent to the viewer, the layers have increased; and there
remain strong monochromatic references. The structural dynamics of the
paintings are more intriguing than ever; and continue to be read as a
juxtaposing of form and color, distortion of scale, and an interplay of
space and structure, beyond the parameters of the canvas.
