Rosenberg and Kaufman Fine Art is pleased to present New Sightings, an
exhibition of the recent photographic work of Avigail Schimmel. The exhibition opens
December 3, 2003 and will continue through January 24, 2004. There will be a
reception for the artist on Thursday, December 4 from 6-8pm. "Every so often you come across a photographer who really does see the world

Chosen as one of Photo District News’ thirty emerging photographers of 2003,
Avigail Schimmel's unique land and seascapes are infused with a keen awareness
of water, motion, and light. Whether in New York City and its environs, her
native Israel, or on her extensive travels, Schimmel produces arresting
portraits of her surroundings. With her remarkable eye, impeccable timing, and rich
color sense, Avigail brilliantly conveys her singular view of the world. The
subject of a solo exhibition at the Alice Austin House Museum on Staten
Island, and recently featured in The New York Times Magazine, as well as PDN,
NYArts, and O magazines, her photographs have been well received in the United
States and abroad.
