In response to the ongoing despair and confusion in the gallery owner's beloved homeland, Iraq, and at this crucial time in history, aya gallery believes the role and responsibility of the artist is of utmost importance, not least of which is to motivate people positively and inspire them with that much needed hope for a more promising future. Expressions of Hope: Iraqi Art will be on view at the aya gallery until the end of February 2004.
The following group of Iraqi artists (listed in alphabetical order) have been brought together in a sensational outpouring of colour in sheer expression of hope. Adalet, Sadik Alfraji, Sadradeen Ameen, Azzawi, Saadi Dawood, Maysaloun Faraj, Leila Kubba, Hana Mal Allah, Ali Mandalawi, Mohammed Quraish, Rebwar, Rashad Selim, Anahit Sarkes, Yahya al-Shaikh, Alaa Siraih, and Sadiq Toma.
