Red Gate runs a number of residency programs for individual artists, curators, researchers and writers. The program has been in full swing for two years and has expanded quickly in the second half of this year. Next year will see the introduction of a program to bring Chinese artists from other areas into Beijing and the chance for international and domestic artists to be based in Chengdu (Sichuan Province) - the centre of the southwest Chinese art scene. From time to time vacancies are available because of last minute changes to residents' plans. In the next couple of months Red Gate has the following to offer people who can come at fairly short notice.
Red Gate has two New Year vacancies coming up:
1. January at the Tuanjie Hu apartment downtown - US$500/month - all amenities, airport pick-up, orientation, etc included.
2. Due to a late cancellation they have February and March vacancies at the Bei Gao studio/apartment complex where 7 + other Chinese and foreign artists are living and working, and next door to the newly established Fire Studios - US$750 - all amenities, airport pick-up, orientation, etc included.
