"50/50: A No Name Show"
2003-12-17 until 2003-12-22
Temple Bar Gallery and Studios
Dublin, , IE Ireland

Following on from the success of 20-20, last year's group show extraordinaire at TBGandS, this years benefit exhibition will feature the work of over two hundred Irish and International Artists. While many artists in the line-up took part in last year’s event, this year’s show sees the inclusion of an array of new names with a balance once again being struck between established figures and new talents.

The 50/50 show will include work by Wolfgang Aichner, Jon Brunberg, Robert Ballagh, Cecily Brennan, John Cronin, Eamon O’Doherty, Clodagh Emoe, Fergus Feehily, Jaki Irvine, Michael Kane, Mary Kelly,  Makiko Nakamura, John Gerrard, Joy Gerrard, Nigel Rolfe, Susan MacWilliam, Noel Sheridan, Dan Shipsides, Pat and Joe Walker and Ian Whittlesea.

Those of you who came along to last year’s event will remember the distinctive box canvases that we distributed to participant artists. This year, all artists have been given flat panels of canvas, board or perspex, each measuring 36cm square. To ensure that buyers rely on their own taste and judgement when selecting their purchases (and also to guarantee a good deal of fun on the night) all pieces will be presented on a no-name basis with the artist's identity only revealed post-purchase.

As a ‘theme’ and in keeping with the title of the show, we have asked artists to loosely address the subject of equality, partnership and mutually beneficial relationships. TBG&S is acting on the principle of 50/50 by returning 50% of proceeds from sales to all participants. In the interests of democracy we have decided to once again keep the sale price at a level that is attractive and accessible to a wide clientele: All work exhibited will be available for sale at a single flat rate of 300 Euro each!
