"Tracy Silva Barbosa: Firmament"
2004-01-19 until 2004-02-21
Urban Glass, Robert Lehman Gallery
Brooklyn, NY, USA United States of America

UrbanGlass opens Firmament, in the Robert Lehman Gallery at UrbanGlass. The exhibition is the culmination of Tracy Silva Barbosa’s Visiting Artist Fellowship at UrbanGlass. Firmament is a new series of glass paintings and paintings on canvas. The ethereal quality of Barbosa’s cast glass pieces and canvases transforms the commonplace imagery of her urban environment into a firmament.

Executive Director Dawn Bennett comments, “UrbanGlass exists to support the creation and presentation of new work in glass, so it’s with great pleasure that we present this exhibition by Ms. Barbosa.”

UrbanGlass awards three Visiting Artist Fellowships each year – two to Emerging Artists and one to an Established artist. During the eight-week fellowships, the visiting artists have access to the studio at UrbanGlass, technical support and materials.

UrbanGlass is a not-for-profit international center for the creation and appreciation of new art made from glass. Programs include artist-access to furnaces and equipment, classes and workshops, on and off-site exhibitions, GLASS Quarterly, The Bead ProjectTM, UrbanGlass Abroad, The Store at UrbanGlass and The Bead Expo.
