"Citigroup Photography Prize 2004"
2004-01-29 until 2004-03-28
Photographers' Gallery
London, , UK

From a list of over 80 nominations the jury has selected four finalists for the Citigroup Photography Prize 2004, each of whom has made a significant contribution to the medium of photography in the past year. This year the shortlist of Robert Adams, Peter Fraser, David Goldblatt and Joel Sternfeld brings together a group of photographers whose influence resonates throughout contemporary practice.

Paul Wombell, Director of The Photographers' Gallery says of this year's short-list: "Over the last 30 years Robert Adams, Peter Fraser, David Goldblatt and Joel Sternfeld have created important bodies of work that have been a major influence on generations of photographers who came to prominence in the 1980s and 1990s. They are in many respects 'photographers' photographers' who have not yet received the public recognition that their influence or work warrants."
