Rosenberg + Kaufman Fine Art is pleased to present an exhibition of the
recent photographic work of the Italian-American photographer Frank Dituri. The
exhibition opens January 31 and will continue through March 13, 2004. There
will be a reception for the artist on Wednesday, February 4 from 6-8pm. "…his pictures resonate even stronger from that stored memory, like a
treasured postcard saved from a journey taken long ago."
-Judd Tully, 2002
Frank Dituri's hauntingly beautiful black and white photographs have been
exhibited extensively in Europe, Asia, and America for over twenty-five years.
Recent solo gallery exhibitions of Frank's work have been at this gallery as
well as in Seattle, Rome, St. Petersburg, Russia, Berlin, and Taiwan. An
exhibition pairing his photographs with the poems of Pier Paolo Pasolini, aga pi
frescia, has been touring Europe and Asia since 2001, and the accompanying book
is in its second printing. There are numerous books and catalogues on his
work, and he has been well reviewed in the New York Times, Corriere della Sera, La
Repubblica, Zoom and many other international publications. He is a frequent
participant in photo workshops in the US and abroad and is a founder of Paese
in Photo in Gubbio, Italy.
Known for his moonlit nocturnal images, Frank's work is a delicate play
between light and darkness where the latter frequently prevails. His more recent
images, as seen in his book Lux Lunae, are hauntingly poetic and darkly
beautiful. Margaret Loke, in her New York Times review of his show at this gallery,
stated "The images…are generally small, spare and saturated with sumptuous,
black-and-white tonalities."
Gallery hours are 11AM-6PM Tuesday through Saturday and by appointment. For
images and additional information, please contact the gallery. Rosenberg +
