Pompeii's life was extinguished in a day. A vibrant resort town near the Bay of Naples, it was entombed in ashes by the eruption of Vesuvius in A.D. 79. Today, almost two thousand years later, this city's superbly preserved art, villas, workshops, and monuments are explored in the new AllLearn course Pompeii!
Yale professor and art historian Diana E. E. Kleiner, author of the acclaimed AllLearn course eClavdia, examines Pompeii's well-preserved frescoes and delicate mosaics, its statues and friezes, its luxurious villas and artisan quarters. Drawing on a combination of visual imagery and historical texts, Pompeii! is an absorbing study of this Roman town, which dates back to the third century B.C.
