Transatlantic is an exhibition of 10 emerging artists from Atlanta, Georgia working in abstraction. The exhibition is being presented by GALLERY twenty-four, Berlin’s premier gallery for autodidactic and undiscovered artists, located in Berlin – Friedrichshain, a former East Berlin borough. Transatlantic examines various aspects of culture concerning humanity, technology, nature and spirituality. The exhibition will highlight 40 works on paper in a broad mix of drawing, painting, photography, printmaking and mixed media.
Artists included in the exhibition are Yun Bai, Laura Bell, Jeff Doud, Grady Haugerud, Scott Lawrence, Andrew Lovell, Mandie Turner Mitchell, Jeromie Neidlinger, Sasha-Igenue Patton and Heather Stevens Weese. GALLERY twenty-four is located at Oderstrasse 24, 10247 Berlin, Germany. Opening reception to be held on Thursday, June 10th from 6:00-11:00 pm, and the exhibition runs from June 9th thru June 22nd, 2004. Transatlantic will be open to the public during regular gallery business hours from 2:00 – 7:00 pm, on Wednesday through Saturday.
Transatlantic offers the opportunity to politically and socially advance cultural ties through art, by encouraging the development, exchange and presentation of creative ideas. Berlin – Friedrichshain, the area where the gallery is located, was formally under communist rule and culturally deprived of any outside influences. Since the fall of the Berlin Wall and Germany’s reunification, Berlin is a city in perpetual evolution. By constantly redefining itself within the international community, Berlin has emerged to become a premier venue in the contemporary art world.
