"Kevin Brand: 50+"
2004-07-14 until 2004-08-06
Bell-Roberts Art Gallery
Cape Town, , ZA South Africa

Kevin Brand will be exhibiting a new body of work at the Bell-Roberts Gallery based upon sketches done for the Didata commission of an abacus. This new work concerns itself with "the aesthetic", where the pursuit of "the pretty" predominates. Brand's concern for this exhibition is to utilize the process of lenticular imaging and marry the seductiveness of the image with the formal 3 dimensional quality of the industrial type light box.

The exhibition uses a repetition of an image that is never seen from the same perspective simultaneously: so although the work is a marked shift from his focussed „issue based‰ earlier concerns, the repetition alludes to his prior use of pixillation in both work and style.

Kevin Brand has exhibited widely both in South Africa and abroad and his work is held in many private, public and corporate collections. He is a former winner of the FNB Vita Art award and lives and works in Cape Town.

Bell-Roberts promotes their artists' works through a Gallery Portfolio at absolutearts.com. View more works at: galleries.absolutearts.com/bellrobertsartgallery
