The Boltax Gallery presents Christian Witkin: Room of Silence and Observation. Witkin is a former assistant to photographers Annie Leibovitz, Bruce Weber, Albert Watson and Peter Lindberg among others. He launched his professional career in 1993 and has since worked for Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, New York Times Magazine, Details, Interview, Vanity Fair, W, Rolling Stone, i-D Magazine and The Face, amongst others.
Witkin's ad Campaigns include clients such as the Gap, Esprit, Levi's, Nike, IBM and American Express. Christian has received various awards for his editorial and commercial work, including the Society of Publication Designers Gold Award in Photography and the Vanguard 1998 Fashion Photographer of the Year Award, Tokyo.
Room of Silence and Observation is an exhibition of female nude portraits.
boltax.gallery gallery was founded in 2001
by Karen Boltax, a New York City art director, graphic designer and self-appointed “Minister of Culture” of Shelter Island who now lives there fulltime. In addition to fine art, boltax.gallery also sells other objects of unique beauty and modern design.
