"AOP Open 2004 Exhibition"
2004-08-25 until 2004-10-20
Association of Photographers Gallery
London, , UK United Kingdom

The AOPOpenexhibition, featuring contemporary photography at its most diverse and compelling,, runs from August 25 to October 20, 2004. Imagery ranges from the dramatic and poignant to the humorous and bizarre. The highest standards are met in all genres; from portraiture, fashion and reportage to landscape, still life and architectural photography.

The AOPOpenis one of the few major photographic competitions accessible to everyone. The Association of Photographers' (AOP) annual competition offers a rare opportunity for amateurs and professionals alike, to compete on a level playing field. The competition is unrestricted in terms of entrants and subject matter. Professional, amateur, occasional snapper – all are welcome. The aim of the show is to acknowledge excellence in photography, through it’s diversity of styles and subject matter. There are no set themes or categories – simply a search for outstanding imagery! A panel chosen from the photographic, editorial and publishing industries will judge the entries, short-listing 100 to be shown at the AOP Gallery, London.

Public vote: From August 23 you can view the exhibition online, at www.aop-open.com, vote for your favorite photograph from those selected by the judges and get a chance to win an iPod! Voting will close at midday on September 2, 2004.

The AOP brings professional photographers together, protecting their rights and promoting photography.

They campaign for all photographers and our awards promote the best in photography. They also provide information services, education programmes, exhibitions and publications to support these activities.

As image-makers respond to globalisation, the AOP is building an effective network of communications with photographers from around the world.
