Indepth Arts News: "Any Given Moment by Ann Coulter and Time Works by Fred Jones" 2004-08-20 until 2004-09-22 Peoria Art Guild Peoria, IL, USA United States of America
Jones is also trying to capture a moment with his painting and digital images, however he is more interested nature’s relationship to time. This focus stems from his retirement in 2002 and he says that he is now “more conscious of the relationship between our experience of time and the changes that take place in the natural environment.” According to author and WIU professor, John Hallwas, Jones realizes that “humans have gradually lost the profound sense of meaningfulness that once characterized their experience of the natural world” and that Jones’ “studies of temporality remind us that although we have chosen to acknowledge only the barren, meaningless pulsations of the clock, nature has a million varieties of time, embodied in organisms and ecosystems that affirm the mysterious unity of always and now.”
The Peoria Art Guild, celebrating 125 years of serving the community and artists, is the largest, nonprofit, community art center in downstate Illinois dedicated to contemporary art. The Peoria Art Guild promotes education and the appreciation of visual arts by providing the community with art exhibits, art classes, original artwork for purchase or rent, and other special events such as the Fine Art Fair. Programs are partially supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council.
