"Archetype Juxtaposed: William Alexander Kerr and Juliette Pelletier"
2004-11-01 until 2004-11-14
Micro Museum
Brooklyn, NY, USA United States of America

Micro Museum presents Archetype Juxtaposed, the first collaboration between William Alexander Kerr and Juliette Pelletier. Archetype Juxtaposed presents Kerr's bold, crisp, sumi ink gestures on vibrantly hued blues, reds and burnt orange grounds in conjunction with Pelletier's surreal neo-classical renderings on textured abstracted surfaces. Kerr and Pelletier present parallel visual explorations, through the application of symbol and motif, each artist creates their own ordering of perception. Archetype Juxtaposed is a fascinating look at the evolution of two individual visions creating a purposeful and graceful tension of polarities.

William Alexander Kerr has exhibited in individual and group shows in the United States, Switzerland and Portugal. Kerr received a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Washington University in St. Louis, and is a self-taught fine artist. Prior to his focus of painting on canvas, Kerr created h! and-made art books and studied with William Gass at the International Writers Center. Kerr's creations are grounded in his studies of Western Philosophy. His works are part of private and corporate collections in Europe and North America. Mr. Kerr currently resides in Boston, MA.

Juliette Pelletier is a Manhattan based artist who has exhibited internationally for over ten years, participating in over 30 individual and group shows. Her works are part of private collections spanning six continents. Ms. Pelletier received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Parsons School of Design Paris, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History from The American University of Paris and completed advanced courses at the Ecole Nationale SupÈrieure des Beaux-Arts. Ms. Pelletier has also studied painting conservation and restoration along with an apprenticeship at Galerie Leonardo in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Mr. Kerr and Ms. Pelletier are currently represented by Jay Kay Gallery in Switzerland, this is their first joint exhibition in North America.
