"Call to Artist: Open Call for Work"

As part of an ongoing commitment to promote challenging, innovative practices in the visual arts, the MUSEUM OF NEW ART (MONA) is seeking artwork and exhibition proposals via the Internet. The museum is asking artists to send one example of your work in the form of a jpeg attachment (no larger than 5x7 at 150 dpi), along with pertinent descriptions about the work and artist to: detroitmona@aol.com

MUSEUM DRIVE-BY: This jpeg image will be the initial submission for consideration. A review panel will then decide whether or not to request the actual artwork or works for solo shows, curated shows, or installations. The first such exhibition will be installed in November, and will be rotated every month thereafter. So, send your submission today.

The museum is looking for individual pieces that address contemporary issues and concerns, trends, and/or work that pushes traditional boundaries in its treatment of materials or subject. At the same time, any work of quality and in any medium will not be turned away.

MONA DRIVE-BY: This call is open to all artists, of any age and who work in any medium. There is no submission fee. The museum simply requests that all selected work must be delivered and picked up by the artist. Unfortunately this may limit submissions to the region stretching from Chicago to Toronto, or even New York. For those artists beyond this area of "easy" delivery, other requirements may be discussed upon selection.

Video/film submissions only may be sent to the museum's administrative address below. Any submission must be on VHS, Super VHS, Mini DV and DVD format only (American version NTSC ONLY). 

PAL format for VHS only will be accepted as a limited and final option.
