"Solo Exhibition: Christine Forbes"
2004-11-08 until 2004-11-13
Capital, The Studio
Horsham, ,
UK United Kingdom
Artist Christine Forbes, who recently had work in the prestigious Royal Academy Summer Show, will be exhibiting at The Capitol, Horsham, in November. Christine’s work will be on show in The Studio, the first time the space has been used for a visual arts exhibition since The Capitol opened. It will provide a stunning setting for Christine’s large, expressive contemporary drawings.
Christine, who lives in Worthing, has been working as a fine artist and teacher for over ten years. She regularly runs art courses at Northbrook College, The Mill Studios, Arundel and at Worthing Museum & Art Gallery.
“My drawing is strongly influenced by Chinese calligraphy and it's related philosophies,” Christine says “and I spend many hours drawing until visual constraints give way to tactility.” The forms, which emerge in the drawings, question our preconceived ideas about perception and notions of what is 'real.' Visitors to The Capitol may be familiar with her work: a large painting recently formed the centrepiece of an exhibition by RAG in The Capitol Gallery.
The exhibition is open from 11am – 10pm daily from Monday 8th – Saturday 13th November. Christine will talk about her work, in conversation with RAG founder Dan Thompson, on Thursday 11th November, from 12 noon. The talk is free of charge but places must be booked through The Capitol Box Office on 01403 750220. For those people attending the talk it is recommended that they experience the exhibition beforehand.
