"Annual Winter Group Exhibition - Winter Solstice III"
2004-12-18 until 2005-02-13
The Studio
Armonk, NY, USA United States of America

The Studio and The Studio Annex are pleased to present a group exhibition that will feature the art of twenty-eight artists, five of whom will be participating for the first time. The new additions to the line up are Ed Colker, Laurel Garcia Colvin, Drew Klotz, Chris Meyers, and Luis Perelman. As in the past, the show will include a great variety of media and styles. Paintings, prints, photographs, mixed media works, sculpture, and video by artists from Westchester and Putnam Counties, Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Connecticut will be on view. Many of the artists have shown their work in galleries and museums in this country and abroad. The wide scope of this exhibition is manifest in the following descriptions of some of the included artworks.

A short video by Robert Federico, Energy: Returning, incorporates natural phenomena and digital technology to suggest the mysterious forces that govern the cosmos. Laurel Garcia Colvin uses the encaustic medium and a variety of imagery in her Nocturnal Rain Series to create works that are simultaneously ethereal and unnerving. Sophistication and humor are evident in the sculptural work of Chris Meyers. His fiberglass sculpture, entitled Gourd, is painted with automotive paint and resembles a drop of neon liquid gaily bouncing off a surface. These are just a few examples of the diversity of the show in terms of style, subject matter, medium, content and emotional tone.

The exhibition was curated by Tedd Stratis, an artist and the founder of The Studio. The artists included are: Sally Aldrich, Joanna S. Astor, Ed Colker, Laurel Garcia Colvin, Adrienne Cullom, Loren Eiferman, Robert Federico, Alice Forman, Marcy B. Freedman, Elain Galen, Sergio Gonzalez- Tornero, Miko Goodnough, Bob Goodnough, Stephen F. Gordon, Erik W. Hanson, Cathrin Hoskinson, Robert Kaupelis, Stephen Keltner, Drew Klotz, Christopher Magadini, Susan Manspeizer, Chris Meyers, J. Pindyck Miller, Bohdan D. Osyczka, Luis Perelman, Andrew Senior, Judith Steinberg, and Joyce Wenglowski.
