"Ellas: Paintings and Works on Paper by Oudi Arroni"

After 10 years of exploring South America, Oudi is back in New York with
new energy and new ideas.
His latest body of works being highlighted at Verlaine Lounge depicts
the human figure, mainly female, and capture the essence of who they
are: strong, capable, intriguing and at times dangerous. These
humoristic and provocative images, flavored with a touch of realistic
cynicism, give us another view on the differences between men and
women.
Over thirty years ago Oudi arrived to New York City with full
determination. After studying photography and film at NYU, Oudi opened
his first studio in the Bowery in 1979. Ten years later he was a highly
successful editorial and advertising photographer with a fresh and
unparalleled way of looking at old subjects. His images were seen in
international ads, art books, book covers and are on permanent display
at the Kodak Eastman Museum and MicroEdge Corporation.
Then a new zeal started and quickly spread. With countless images
clamoring inside him, Oudi began painting with a passion that rapidly
won him an enthusiastic audience. His magical, vibrant,
surrealistic/realistic paintings and sculptures depict nature as we
have perhaps dared to see only with our inner eyes before. The
representations at once intrigue and delight the viewer and carry him
off to an enchanted world where everything and nothing is real.
