"Atmosphere: Mark Rhodes"
2005-01-05 until 2005-01-30
SODA Gallery
Avalon, NS, USA United States of America

SODA Gallery will be showing works by Mark Rhodes entitled Atmospheres. From the artist's statement "My work takes audiences on a journey back in time that explores the social and physical evolution of place. Each canvas represents an historical stratum of time. The works, shifting from soft graphic compositions to primal base expressions, are a chronological depiction of place as it has evolved."

Rhodes continues "The primary motivation behind my landscape painting is to establish a bond between audiences and the environment. The exhibition seeks to achieve this through the exploration of the potentially profound impact that a landscape or image thereof can have on the human psyche. The image becomes an experience, creating a landscape within the mind allowing the viewer to explore and re-assess their relationship to that landscape through feeling."

Mark Rhodes has shown mainly in Australia, but has pieces in private collections in Australia, France and the US. He earned a Diploma of Product Design Enmore Design Centre in 1998.
