"Hugit Rubenstein: A Bug in the Bottle"
2005-01-07 until 2005-02-18
Tal Esther Gallery
Tel Aviv, , IL Israel

"A Bug In The Bottle" is analogues to the binary relationship between the viewer and the object of his gaze. As one becomes more involved with the object they look at, they might find, a shift and replacement of the one with the other. The bug is also suggestive to a search for the bug within us, the word bug as is used in computer terminology, as a virus. Once we detect the virus, we may start an unwinding and healing procces. The exhibition is trying to create an experience that excludes the one view point that we are conditioned to, and to create more of a "Real Time" experience through the works.

In the age of telecomunication, the digital image demands the replacement of the real with the virtual, this also includes the shifting of the place of the viewer, as he becomes virtual, by lending himself to the "real time" experience.

The images are trying to overcome the conflict between the painted image and the "Real Time" image by creating multiple descriptions that break down a single coherent reading, and to create a painting that changes with its viewers point of view.

Hugit Rubenstein was born in 1968 in Isreal and presently lives and works in Melbourne, Australia.
