"Tsuneaki 'Ryan' Shoda"
2005-01-09 until 2005-01-25
Prestige Gallery
Sapporo, ,
JP Japan
This special exhibition for Tsuneaki 'Ryan' Shoda at the Prestige Gallery, Sapporo, Japan presents a collection of painted portraits. Since remote antiquity, the mask, attached to the face, as a mysterious second skin, continues to create the illusion of reality, feeding upon it and showing it diverse forms.
Shoda is very personal in his use of cubism, in his planes and technique. In the portrait, the gesture predominates over the face of the character portrayed. Shoda paints the gesture sometimes with dramatic intentionaly, like Hokusai.
At the age of sixty, Shoda has already the mastery of an authentic creator, with an open mind to the world and yet with the same passion of the masters of long ago. Now, the world needs to feel his pure expression of the human beings in the days which we are not knowing the way out from.
Shoda was born in 1946 in the Ishikawa Prefecture of Japan. During the sixties he left for France but now lives in Kimitsu Chiba, Japan.
The Prestige Gallery promotes its artists online with an absolutearts.com Gallery Portfolio. View more works by Shoda and other Prestige Gallery artists at: http://galleries.absolutearts.com/galleries/prestige.
