The Schumacher Gallery is featuring an
exhibition of original oil paintings by local African-
American Artists. The exhibit is displayed in The Schumacher
Gallery at Capital University and is entitled “African-
American Artists of Central Ohio.” Original oil paintings by Ohio artist Ron Anderson will be presented.
The exhibit is co-curated by David Barker and includes
artwork by Ron Anderson, Talle Bamazi, Garner Chapman, Larry
Collins, Ed Colston, Jenita Landerum-Bittles, Bruce
Robinson, Melissa Smith, Pheoris West, and Beverly
Whiteside. “African-American Artists of Central Ohio" opens
with a reception on Friday, January 14, 2005 from 5:00-7:00
p.m. and the show runs until February 18, 2005.
Ron Anderson is an Ohio oil painter and an art educator. He
teaches commercial art at the Columbus College of Art &
Design and for the Columbus Public Schools and exhibits his
artwork in Ohio and in New York.
Ron Anderson’s art commissions include an original painting
commissioned for the Absolut Spirits 3rd annual art
collection and two portraits housed in the George Washington
Williams Memorial room at the Ohio Statehouse. He is
currently completing six murals for the newly renovated Ohio
Supreme Court building with an anticipated completion date
of March 2005.
