2005-01-04 until 2005-01-29
First Street Gallery
New York, NY,
USA United States of America
This exhibition, on view at First Street gallery until January 29, is comprised of 10 diverse examples of figurative art. From the bold and specific (Benton, DíEsposito, Evalenko, Lyons) to the narrative and enigmatic (Cardillo, Gittler, Kennedy, Kronengold, Liebler, Zwerling), they are all informed by a strong personal vision and solid formal qualities.
First Street Gallery accepts submissions from artists for review. Applications are reviewed at membership meetings every 4-6 weeks. To apply artists must bring four to six original works of art to the gallery at 5:45 p.m. on the day of the meeting. This may be supplemented by slides, resume, and reviews. The submitted work should be removed from the gallery the same evening at 7:30-8:00 p.m. Where it is not possible for the artist to bring original works, slides and other materials may be sent in advance of the meeting for an initial review. Materials sent by mail should be accompanied by a SASE for their return. Results of the vote are mailed out within a week. Meetings are usually held on Fridays and the date of the next meeting can be obtained by contacting the gallery during its normal hours, Tuesday through Saturday between 11:00 am and 6:00 pm (646-336-8053).
The First Street Gallery maintains a Gallery Portfolio at absolutearts.com to promote their artists works. View more work at: http://galleries.absolutearts.com/firststreetgallery
