In this exhibition, the two artists will be showing works on paper, with ink as the main medium from each of their individual series. Prior to the opening of INK Interpretations, Kathleen Lee and Yeo Shih Yun will be engaged in a collaborative project where they will both paint together with ink on paper. Some of these collaborative works will be on display as well.
Chinese ink painting refers constantly to the past. The challenge for artists working with inks, today, is to offer new possibilities, new interpretations, that demonstrate a contemporary vocabulary.
People from different parts of the world are often separated by differences in culture, language and experiences, but what happens when two artists, one from San Francisco and the other from Singapore, of similar heritages but separated by different countries, come together to share their visual language? Each carrying their own landscape of memory and experiences, come together to reveal part of their lives and the world they exist in.
