"Communism: A Group Show"
2005-01-20 until 2005-02-27
Project Gallery
Dublin, , IE Ireland

The term communism, which means a system based on the common ownership of property, will be the point of departure for a number of substantial commissions to artists by Project in 2005. This term is proposed as both a historical reference and as an open question concerning its contemporary relevance. The commissions will be grouped together into two exhibitions with off site projects, talks and events.

The first exhibition will include a poster and mail art project by Aleksandra Mir (New York), an installation and mural by Klaus Weber (Berlin), a large scale fabric intervention by Eva Berandes (Berlin), an amateur (workers) choir formed by Factotum (Belfast), and a participatory work (that has recently toured the Soviet Union) entitled 'What is to be Done' by Susan Kelly (London).

Other projects in this series include a new sound piece by Susan Phillipz (Berlin), an installation by Carol Bove (New York), an off site project by Seamus Nolan (Dublin) and a musical score by the late composer Cornelius Cardew (UK).
