THE IVY HOUSE is delighted to present A Celebration of Colour, an exhibition of paintings by local artist, JOHN NOLAN. His vibrant modern figurative and abstract works combine bold outlines with bright exotic colours. John endeavours to transmit an upbeat positive feeling to his viewers. He works from his imagination, the interior landscape. Some artists explore the imaginative side of their palette, John makes this the main subject of his work.
A CELEBRATION OF COLOUR has preoccupied him from an early age and he continues to explore this theme for his exhibition in THE IVY HOUSE.
John has had numerous solo exhibitions including shows at the Gallery Restaurant, Coventry, UK, Jones Arts Gallery, Waterford, The Westin Hotel, Dublin, Devenish Fine Art Gallery, Enniskillen and Art Effect, Belfast.
His work has also been selected for many group exhibitions including Wicklow County Council Open Submission, Unplugged at The Narrow Space Gallery. Clonmel, and a Two Person show at the Metatron Gallery, Wicklow. In 2003 John was one of five artists selected to represent Ireland at the prestigious Florence Biennale. His work is included in many private and public collections worldwide.
John's next solo exhibition will open at the Bank of Ireland Arts Centre, Dublin, in April 2005.
