"16th Annual James A. Porter Colloquium on African American Art"

The 16th Annual James A. Porter Colloquium on African American Art. This year's Porter Colloquium will be held in the Blackburn Center on Howard University's campus from Thursday, April 14th through Saturday, April 16th. The organization is expanding their program to cover three days this year in special recognition of the 100th anniversary of Porter's birthday.
Emory Professor Emeritus, Richard Long will give the keynote along with special lectures by Edmund Gaither of the National Center of Afro-American Artists, Roxbury, Ma., and Dean Tritobia Benjamin on the work of Porter and Driskell respectively. 100 percent of invitations to the panelists have been accepted. The colloquium and celebration will conclude with the Annual Gala on Saturday night. This year's colloquium will also formally encompass the Driskell Lecture held at the University of Maryland on Thursday evening. The theme for this year's colloquium is as follows:
