"Günther Uecker : For his 75th birthday"

Günther Uecker is one of the most famous German artists. He was born on March 13, 1930 in Wendorf, Mecklenburg. The Nail has become the brand of this artist. This aglets have themselve more or less beated into our heads and commemoration. For his 75th birthday the Stiftung Wilhelm Lehmbruck Museum is presenting in an own room the marks, which the worldwide travelling artist, consigned in Duisburg. Reflecting this, the viewer will discover, that Ueckers work is not only embossed by nails.

In the centre of his work and of the exhibition stands the topic "Commemoration", which is reflecteted in many ways in his work. In this case is to mention the weightily nail-cube "Grave of the lost Memories" out of the year 1972. It contains invincible diarys and notices of the artist.

Drawings and models remember projects in the Duisburg area in which Uecker took place in the past 25 years. So for example the mighty , 18 m long "Watersailsculpture", made in 1979 for the Berta-lake.
