Indepth Arts News: "Exhibitions of Works: Wayne Martin Belger, Jonathan Martin, Jon Tarry, Shannon Lambert, and Richard Ankrom" 2005-04-14 until 2005-09-30 Bert Green Fine Art Los Angeles, CA, USA United States of America
Wayne Martin Belger creates pin hole cameras from specially chosen found materials. These cameras are sculptures that make a statement about the materials of which they are constructed, yet function perfectly to produce photographs. Some of his cameras are created from a human skull, debris from the World Trade Center, and HIV infected blood.
Jonathan Martin uses organic materials such as flower essences, rust, and other pigment-like materials to create fragile, minimalist compositions on muslin and felt. His works evoke a sensibility of loss and the passage of time. They change considerably in the first few years after their creation, then become stable after 2 or 3 years.
In the Project Windows, Jon Tarry explores non-functioning signs in a piece called "Walk Through LA." Shannon Lambert's sculptures highlight the natural beauty of discarded materials. Richard Ankrom debuts a highly frenetic neon installation contrasting additive and subtractive color.
