Indepth Arts News: "Call for Artists: Plaything of the Wind - Wind Moved 2005" 2005-04-27 until 0000-00-00 District of Waldeck-Frankenberg Korbach, , DE Germany
"Plaything of the Wind“ is the theme of the art competition „moved wind“ in 2005. The openair- exhibition of the exhibits will take place in the sweeping hilly landscape of North Hesse in Germany. Art and nature will be staged as exciting and shall invite to explore. Wind objects and LandArt are the subject.
What can we offer the wind ?- The wind that strokes through leaves and then storms on, rushes and whispers, is gentle and then disorders, uproots and concentrates. Its strength is invisible. You can feel it and hear it - sometimes. Windobjects will make the wind visible. And it is playful. Things, both great and small, that get in its way are put into motion and played with. Thus it can even become a musical instrument. This is also implied in this year‘s competition theme: the making of sounds and space for the wind. At the same time, the notions of wind, movement and play are meant to be whirled about to show new aspects of the theme.
The District of Waldeck-Frankenberg is the organiser of both competition and exhibition - in cooperation with artist Reta Reinl and organiser Viola Müller. The exhibition of the wind objects will take place in 3 - 5 places between July 17th and July 31st, 2005. Last date of entry is July, 6th,2005. The prize-giving is on Friday July 29th, 2005.
The theme has been described in an open way in order to leave enough space for inspiration, fantasy, creativity and innovation. The organisers are looking forward to a rich variety of ideas in suitable weather-proof materials and techniques in two or three dimensional objects. A jury of artists, art historians and public figures will judge the objects. The art prize is 1,500 Euros. The exhibition will go along with an accompanying programme that invites the viewers to walk about the countryside and explore the exhibits. In cooperation with local organisers and partners some of the following will be possible: open-air concerts, rambles, picnics, wind games, bicycle and canoe tours, photo competitions, memory games concerning the landscape and the wind objects, wind music.
