ShanghART H-Space in Shanghai China present In their 40's - works by Chinese artists born shortly Before the Cultural Revolution in an exhibition that runs through June, 2005. Artists born just before the beginning of the Cultural Revolution (1966-67) are an unique group. Many of the best paintings done today in China are created by artists of this generation. Trained in strict art academies of the late 70's/80's, they started to experiment with the possibilities of new art in Deng Xiaoping's new China. With fifteen or more years of artistic experience, each of these artists developed his/her own individual style and artistic position.
While artists from all over China will be included, this exhibition will be centred around artist living and working Shanghai, a city which seems to fosters this kind of innovation and artistic individuality especially well .
