"DIN A4 Project"
2005-06-16 until 2005-07-16
Reina Sofía Art Gallery of the Alzheimer Foundation
Leon, , MX Mexico

The first exhibition of the DIN A4 Project in Mexico will take place in the Reina Sofía Art Gallery of the Alzheimer Foundation in Leon, Guanajuato from June 16 to July 16 2005. Created and founded with the collaboration between artists worldwide the DIN A4 Project originates in 2000 with a traveling exhibition as part of the "Art Initiative L5" in Holland; it transformed into an internet presentation, and later a traveling exhibition.

Initially it took place in Holland, and consequently in countries like Germany, Belgium, France, Great Britain, Poland, Spain, Bosnia and the United States. Currently, it has touched Latin American territory. The project organization has been possible with the commitment of different sponsors, as well as through the support of the governments of the cities where the exhibitions have taken place. Nevertheless, it is important to emphasize that the shows are the result of the support between the participant artists and the direction of the DIN A4 Project. The present exhibition of DIN A4 in Leon, Guanajuato Mexico was initially conceived by Mexican artist Laura Castanedo and Dutch artist Ernst Kraft; later, Ingrid Rosas, Mexican artist and director of the 'Reina Sofía" Gallery of the Alzheimer Foundation in Leon, joined the group in the planning and accomplishment of this project.

The participaring artists will exhibit two drawings on paper size DIN A4, an European standard measurement of 210 x 297 mm. The intention is to have more uniformity in all works, as well as to facilitate their storage. The main purpose is that each one of the drawings reflects the constant necessity of the artists to represent thoughts, feelings, their surroundings and time. Thus, each work will show its personal and unique nature, created from individual conditions and by the cultural root of each artist. With the collection of drawings a DIN A4 institute will be created.

The project has been presented in Roermond, Holland; Michigan, United States, Haus Hanssen Elmpt, Germany; Kraków, Poland; Mijas and Marbella, Spain; Zenica Bosnia Herzegovina. In 2005 it will be presented in Schloss Burgau in Düren, Germany and in Mexico. Mexican artists invited to DIN A4 Project are Laura Castanedo, Ingrid Rosas, Gabriela Escárcega, Franco Méndez Calvillo, Andrea López, Gerardo Macías, Serioshka Hellmund, Felipe Ehrenberg, Scott Neri, Guillermo Munro, Alejandro Luna, Gabriel Adame, Laura Casamitjana, Jorge Díaz, Olivie Ponce, Irma Dugelby, Enrique Morfin, María Valencia, Cuauhtémoc Velásquez, Antonio Ehrenzweig, Magdiel Pérez y Juan Pablo Bojorquez.

Laura Castanedo has been active on the internet with a Premiere Portfolio at absolutearts.com since view more of her work at http://www.absolutearts.com/lauracastanedo.
