Blue Caterpillar Art Gallery
Willowton, , ZA South Africa

The Blue Caterpillar Art Gallery presents an exhibition by a husband and wife duo, Hussein Salim and Raja Oshi, captivating the rich heritage of Sudan through their contemporary style. These established artists both forced to leave their country because of the political situation, spend much of their time in various countries in Europe. Here they successfully exhibited in France, England, Norway, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands and Italy. Their works are on permanent display in leading galleries in these countries.

Hussein and Raja now resides in KZN and Hussein continues to further his studies at The University of Natal, Pietermaritzburg.

Modern Art in Sudan is a rich synthesis of heritage and new global-modernism or post- modernism, in which local influences are strengthened by the experience of Diaspora in the west. The work of these two artists reflects cross currents of ancient and contemporary Africa, Arabic, Islamic and Western Influences.

Their works are a testimony of the sophistication and maturity of Sudanese artists.
