The Mattress Factory is pleased to announce a new exhibition in the Gestures series opening Sunday, July 31, 2005.
Gestures features small-scale site-specific work by artists from a variety of backgrounds and disciplines. This exhibition is co-curated by Mattress Factory Curator of Exhibitions, Michael Olijnyk and Independent Curator and Art Critic, Graham Shearing, and will be on view through October 2, 2005 at the museum’s main building at 500 Sampsonia Way.
“You will not find any other art museum that would take a risk like the Mattress Factory. We step out of the gallery and ask ‘who would we like to see create an installation’. Sometimes it is a photographer, sometimes a chef, sometimes a tattoo artist. You never know what you are going to get—but it never disappoints. And it is always interesting when those who are not practicing artists mix together with those who are—and no blood is spilled.”
