The Hong Kong University Museum and Art Gallery, The University of Hong
Kong, and the newly renamed Hong Kong Union of Visual Artists will jointly
presented the 'The Hong Kong Union of Visual Artists - Inaugural Exhibition'
to celebrate the merging of the Confederation of Hongkong Visual Artists
Limited and the Hong Kong Modern Art Society. The Hong Kong Union of Visual Artists has been established by a group of
like-minded local artists with enthusiasm for the arts. Over the years, they
have created numerous artworks and organized activities and projects to
enhance public appreciation of the arts.
Through organizing exhibitions,
they share their experiences of creating art and broadening their knowledge
and vision. Among them, many members have dedicated themselves to teaching
and contribute to the cultivation of a new generation of artists.
This exhibition will feature over fifty artworks by forty artists, including
paintings, sculpture, photography, pottery and glass. In painting, there are
artists who delve into traditional Chinese ink painting, those that adopt
western media and aesthetic concepts, as well as those that incorporate
western artistic notions with Chinese ink painting techniques to break free
of traditional norms. Meanwhile, pottery artists explore different
techniques to create bold and creative artworks. In sculpture, artists
employ different materials and techniques, creating abstract works full of
imagination. In recent years, there is a growing interest in glass art,
emerging glass-making artists create impressive works using blown and
moulding techniques.
As art lovers and creators, the members of the Hong Kong Union of Visual
Artists, have made important contributions to the development of Hong Kong
art.
