PERCHANCE

They are suggestive,
Liberated,
Whimsical.

They approach you intimately,
Sincerely, outlining shapes of
You and me.

“Of these sketch-like calligraphy paintings, those that are surprisingly good often come about by chance. From corners of my mind, spirited little creatures seem to reveal themselves when I am more at ease and less endeavoring. Then, along the flow of ink, through the tip of my brush, they take their final shape. That is a wonderful moment, one that often fills me with deep emotions.

Painting is laborious, but at the same time an exchange that is both mystical and spiritual. Inspirations do not come about by my own will. Yet I cannot stop painting. I paint, almost obsessively, without a shred of self-awareness. Sometimes I would forget that I am exhausted. I become possessed. My sore fingers lead by the brush, and the brush swayed by the strokes, as if strolling on the paper. The strokes become natural and relaxed; free and unbounded, filled with self-confidence. Strokes that come together by chance are filled with spirituality!”
