"Paul Edmunds: Phenomena"
2005-10-05 until 2005-10-29
Joao Ferreira Fine Art
Cape Town, , ZA South Africa

Opening on October 5th, 2005 is Paul Edmunds: Phenomena. This exhibition explores images that reflect natural phenomena which are created starting with numerous digital processes. Paul Edmunds, born in 1970, in Johannesburg, is an independent artist and critic based in Cape Town. He has lectured in Sculpture at the University of Stellenbosch, and lectured in Graphic Arts and served as a technician in Industrial Design at the Cape Technikon.

My new body of work takes as its starting point a variety of natural phenomena such as light, surface and structure. Simple iterations of regular forms and processes result in complex works which evoke the rich, sensual nature of their sources. The works, ranging from cut paper to assembled acrylic constructions, are typically labour-intensive and visually dense, continuing my exploration of process, pattern and design.

Paul Edmunds, 2005

Paul Edmunds is a Cape Town-based artist. He is also a writer and critic and is currently chief sub-editor of www.artthrob.co.za.
