"Charles Green and Lyndell Brown: Map of Atlantis"
2005-10-08 until 2005-10-30
Gibsone Jessop Gallery
Toronto, PN, CA Canada

Lyndell Brown and Charles Green bring together skills of painting and photography as well as a fascination with history and memory, and a deep appreciation of the relationship between beauty and desire. Central to their art are postcolonial notions of displacement, disconnection and globalization; the rupturing of cultures and belief systems; and the simultaneous loss of ocal identity and universal truth.

Brown and Green have created a complex process that involves photographing their paintings to achieve high resolution scans that are transferred onto transparent Duraclear film creating what they call "ghostly spirit-photographs".

Charles Green and Lyndell Brown travelled from Austalia for the opening on Saturday October 8 and spoke on their work.
