"Jeffrey Pratt: Travels and Reflections, A One Man Show"
2005-10-30 until 2005-11-13
Hicks Gallery
Wimbledon, , UK United Kingdom

Jeffrey Pratt has been the Hicks Gallery's best selling artist for the whole ten years that he has exhibited with the gallery. The reason is that his work has a passion he conveys to all who view his work. It is full of hot colour, daring and a magical quality that is impossible to define. His approach is traditional in that he believes in getting close to his subject, so he travels widely soaking up the atmosphere of exotic places in India, Africa and occasionally South America. He is equally at home in France where he spends weeks moving from place to place in his camper van/mobile studio.

In good weather he paints outside, in bad inside with a still life or putting the finishing touches to yesterdays work. In this way he reaches areas that other painters find less accessible. We are sure that you will agree that his effort, commitment and quality should find a wider appreciation.

We have taken this opportunity to g! ive some background information:

Jeffrey has lived in rural Oxfordshire for many years on what was once a small farm. It now has 55 acres which he has, with considerable personal effort turned into a wild life sanctuary. There are lakes which he has dug, the larger with an amazing stone bridge built for no reason at all, except as a celebration of being alive and able to do. There are meadows full of wildflowers, a bat sanctuary, a huge lily pond, old barns and wonderful stonework. With this he has created an environment which is the envy of every painter.
