Artists and artist teams are requested to submit proposals to an open call for public art projects to be exhibited in Freedom Park, Atlanta, GA from May 7 to October 1, 2006. Freedom Park is Atlanta's largest public space. Its history stretches from the Civil War (where Sherman watched Atlanta burn) to Civil Rights (it borders the birthplace of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.) to present day activism (the neighborhood group CAUTION stopped a major DOT project) and houses The Carter Center.
The AiFP Task Force encourages proposals for sculptures and site-specific installations from the environmental, social, historic, architectural, geographic, political, visual, theatrical and whimsical side of public art.
See the website http://www.artinfreedompark.org for an application, site map and submission guidelines or email artinfreedompark@yahoo.com. Deadline for proposals: December 9, 2005.
