The Guild Art Gallery is presenting paintings by three
young artists from 9th November to 25th November 2005.
"Thresholds and Distances" is a group exhibition of
paintings by three artists, Sathyanand Mohan, Ashutosh
Bhardwaj, and Lokesh Khodke. The three artists,
graduates of The Faculty Of Fine Arts, M.S.University,
Baroda show their most recent works.
The paintings offers many sided content and language.
Ashutosh's acrylics and oils on canvas respond to the
contemporary cosmo and metro surroundings around us,
drawing metaphors from the images projected to us
through various forms of media which serve as the
imagolouge of the global socio-politics. Geometric
design in bright colours as also images from history
form a part of his works.
Lokesh's oils on canvas center around the questions of
space and its relationship with object, time and
people as also space and power relations. He tries to
address these at both- the subjective and formal
levels.
Sathyanand's oils on canvas reflect his engagement
with both the personal and the political levels in
terms of language and subject. A main area of his
interest being the human subject; the problems and
possibilities inherent in the representation of
people.
