"Laurent Schkolnyk: Mezzotints"
2005-11-16 until 2006-01-07
Childs Gallery
Boston, MA, USA United States of America

An exhibition of contemporary mezzotints by French artist Laurent Schkolnyk opens at Childs Gallery on November 14 and will run through January 7. The exhibit includes over a dozen examples of Schkolnyk’s work in three-color mezzotint. Laurent Schkolnyk was born in Paris in 1953 and studied at the Ecole des Beaux Arts at Nantes from 1971 to1978. His black and white and three-plate color mezzotints have been exhibited widely and are represented in the collections of several major institutions, including the following: Cabinet des Estampes de la Bibliothèque Nationale (France), Achenbach Foundation for Arts (San Francisco), Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Minneapolis Institute of Art, and Cleveland Museum of Art.

This exhibition is the first time many of these works will be displayed in Boston. These classically-influenced prints appeal not only to collectors of more contemporary prints, but to those who have traditionally collected mainly older, highly crafted prints.
